Poem for Alan - written and read by Tamsin

Alan, my darling, your friends are all here
I arrived with you in the van
It’s a lovely day and the sun is out
And so far all’s going to plan
The cardboard box was a problem
As you were a bit too tall
But I did manage to sort this out
And you had the best people to pall
The house and the garden are under control
The birds are watered and fed
The cats send their love and they miss you
And sleep on your side of the bed
Needless to say I’m heartbroken,
As I’ve lost my true love and soulmate
But don’t want to dwell on the sadness
And get myself into a state
Instead to remember the fun we had
You know we laughed almost every day!
Quite remarkable if you think about it
And not what many people can say
We’re near to the end of the service
With labels on hand to stick
I hope you enjoyed it my darling
I know you’ll love the music
Since we said our goodbyes already
There’s only one thing left to add
I’ll never forget you my beautiful man
Nor the beautiful life that we had
