This site is a tribute to Alan Rush, who was born in Wimbledon on January 18, 1951 and passed away peacefully on 19th August 2016 with his beloved wife Tamsin by his side. He was a beautiful soul, much loved and will always be remembered.
The achievement he was most proud of was his sail, single-handed across the Pacific Ocean in a 21-foot wooden boat 'Balandra' when he was in his twenties. At the time, all he had to guide him was a plastic sextant and the stars.
Tamsin transcribed his original log which was subsequently published in December 2010 and can be bought as a colour paperback or eBook from all major online retailers including Amazon:
All proceeds from the sale of his book go to the RNLI.
A privilege to have known Alan. A giant amongst men and certainly amongst us at his beloved Hurlingham Yacht Club.We all feel his absence and miss him greatly.
For 2 copies of Alan's book. (me and Mark)
Alan was one of the nicest people I have ever met, always a smile, and when meeting him for the first time he would make you feel like an old friend.
